Overview

QuoteBasket Pro is a standalone WordPress plugin that replaces WooCommerce's default cart/checkout flow with a B2B quote request system. Built as an independent plugin with its own database tables, it's been proven across three portals in the HydraSearch Ecosystem and is reusable on any WooCommerce site.

Problem

B2B manufacturing clients often need customers to request quotes rather than buy instantly. WooCommerce's cart/checkout flow assumes immediate purchase, and bolting quote logic onto the default cart gets messy fast.

Every attempted solution before this one either broke on WooCommerce updates or required maintaining a forked version of WooCommerce's cart class. Neither approach was sustainable for a multi-portal deployment.

Approach

Built quoting as a fully separate system with its own database tables rather than piggybacking on WooCommerce's cart/order tables. This keeps it update-safe and reusable across any WooCommerce site, not just one client.

Exposed the whole flow through shortcodes and a hook/filter API so front-end devs can integrate it into any theme without touching plugin internals.

Architecture

Database Design

Three dedicated tables decouple quote data from WooCommerce's order lifecycle entirely:

• wp_quote_requests -- Master quote record with status, customer info, and timestamps
• wp_quote_items -- Individual line items with product references and quantities
• wp_quote_meta -- Extensible metadata for custom fields and notes

Shortcodes

The plugin exposes three shortcodes for front-end integration:

• [quote_basket] -- The quote basket widget showing current items
• [quote_list] -- Admin-facing list of all quote requests
• [quote_form] -- The submission form with configurable fields

Hook/Filter API

Developers can customize the entire quote flow without modifying plugin code:

• after_quote_submit -- Action fired after a quote is submitted
• quote_form_fields -- Filter to add/modify form fields
• quote_email_content -- Filter to customize email notifications

Admin Dashboard

Bulk status updates, CSV/PDF export, and templated email notifications at each quote stage (submitted -> reviewed -> approved/rejected). The dashboard provides a complete overview of all pending and processed quotes.

Results

• Now runs as the quoting backbone for the HydraSearch Ecosystem's three portals
• Independent of WooCommerce order lifecycle -- fully update-safe
• Reusable across any WooCommerce installation via shortcodes and hooks
• Zero conflicts with WooCommerce core updates since launch
